Bosco - again

Since arriving in our household, Bosco has been a quiet and measured cat. He is not aggressive but quietly stands his ground, or he chooses his battles and cedes ground temporarily. He nonetheless doesn’t give up.

A case in point is who sleeps on my bed. Tootsie has always claimed a place, preferably next to my head. Thalia usually sleeps in the crook of my knees, although she sometimes wanders off to another spot in the night.

Early on, Bosco identified this area as the prime real estate within the territory of the house.

At first, great hissing ensued every time he approached the bed. Over time, he resorted to sleeping there during the day and making the bottom right corner his own. He would not chase off the other cats when they approached the bed. At night, he would give way to the hissing and growling cats.

His persistence has paid off. He now sleeps in the bottom right corner and does not budge throughout the night. Tootsie has made her peace and sleeps in her usual spot next to my head. Bosco leaves her alone. And Thalia starts on my legs and then migrates elsewhere.

Life lesson: Stick to your bigger objectives and don’t sweat the small things. Slowly, slowly catches the monkey.
